Chapter 7 Bankruptcy

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is a legal process that allows individuals or businesses to eliminate most of their unsecured debts. This process includes liquidating assets to repay creditors and then turning over the proceeds to their creditors. Once the process is complete, the debtor will be discharged from most of their debts.

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

Chapter 13 bankruptcy allows individuals or businesses to reorganize their debts and create a payment plan to pay off their creditors over three to five years. In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the debtor must submit a repayment plan to the court. Once the plan is approved, the debtor will make payments to the trustee, who will distribute the funds to creditors. At the end of the repayment plan, the debtor will be discharged from most of their remaining debts.
